As a high school band geek I was taught Stravinsky hated the bassoonist that first performed in Rite of Spring, which is why he gave him that difficult opening melody, but this is a myth. It doesn't stop me wanting an all-bassoon Rite of Spring, though, because bassoons bassoons bassoons.
