Radically pedestrian urban planning.
Chicago-centric. ✶✶✶✶
With friends like these, @aldconway.bsky.social wants to be mayor.

@jessiefuentes.bsky.social points out how this change will prevent work towards improving ADA compliance while the city is facing a major lawsuit on this issue.

The 'alternative' to a budget stalemate is killing oversight on police overtime and all the city's assets to the control of Ald. Villegas. It's going from committee to floor in a matter of days, if not hours.

This is the parking meter deal all over again.

The advertising on the L is starting to juxtapose.

I’m sure some locals were unhappy, change is never universally loved.

Local Facebook pages did a lot to amplify anger. Some posters got a lot of attention there.

That attracted the Urban Center PAC, who started parading people they’re priming to run for office onto the news. Zuno is one of those.

3 months ago, the same business owner talked about how this business was meant to provide resources on the South Side that North Siders already had.

Just compare a reasonable car to a Cybertruck on the roaddamagecalculator.com

Car drivers are getting scammed by truck commuters.

We did it, JB.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov has signed SB2111 into law.

Transit is funded, NITA will be arriving shortly.

That Sun-Times map seems to show the exclusivity only extends to Lakeshore East and the east side of the Loop.
December 16, 2025 at 5:29 PM
I can’t imagine the contract makes the entire section 17-10-0503 nullified. That would extend to River North, Streeterville, and West Loop.

I am once again reminding @chicagoreader.com that Pilsen is not a south side neighborhood.

I can show you how the protected the protected infrastructure at 18th and Wabash is not blocking emergency vehicles, because I watched it.

It’s hard to tell what drivers were honking for at the Archer for Everybody rally, but the tow truck driver seemed happy.

Here's the current view of the Archer Avenue safe streets project under construction, to the southwest of Kedzie Avenue.

Why didn't you just travel White Stripes style?
December 15, 2025 at 7:50 PM
Hey @nbcchicago.com let me fix that chyron for ya...

The truck has a grill that is taller than this woman, which should also be illegal, but the responsibility to safely operate it falls to a HUMAN DRIVER. The driver is at fault, the truck is inanimate.

Congratulations to Chicago for seemingly being the first major U.S. city to remove a @nacto.bsky.social approved protected intersection.

One safety island removed, another’s days are numbered.

When someone gets hit here (and they will be someone hit here) we’re going to call it a classic Pat Dowell Right Hook 🥊

I’m pretty sure I already had reached 12% of all Divvy stations before @davidpowe.bsky.social went and had a bunch more installed this year!

My problem with the recurring argument that “no one bikes in winter”:

- The city is responsible for clearing protected bike lanes.
- Private property owners are responsible for most sidewalks.

It’s safer for pedestrians to have a clear path that isn’t in the road. Make Archer safe for everybody!

This kind of mixed-use, walkable bookstore is prohibited in most places.
