Either Hori is projecting too much onto deku (w the whole nothing matters vibe), they're setting it up for a sequel (which I wouldn't even touch if so bec sequels are never good), or he's just that terrible at making closures.

Literally one of the things EVERYONE loved about deku was how stubbornly determined he was. It's the #1 even non bkdks like to lovingly joke about it. Take that away and he's not Deku anymore

I'm not surprised the jpn fans have the same reaction. This work is about being a hero. In the end he didn't even become a hero even when presented the option to. Even Naruto's annoying babies ever after is better because Naruto became hokage. Deku is just soulless and bland now
