🚨One win already for clean air action from new Mayors!

The Govt has adopted my first amendment to the Devolution Bill to make pollution part of their health plans.

Next up: a real duty to act on pollution, climate and nature. Write to your MP to sign my New Clause 29 today.

As flooding in #Brighton becomes more frequent and dramatic, we need local measures to protect residents and livelihoods.

I stopped in to hear from business owners at Preston Circus, who suffered flash floods last month.

Will follow up with Southern Water and @brighton-hove.gov.uk.

Ella's Law, which would make breathing #cleanair a human right, will not likely have its second reading next week.

Yesterday I asked if the Government will make more time in Parliament for this vital Bill to be debated and made law.

The BBC needs defending - from outside forces like President Trump and his propaganda values, and from current and future political appointments to its Board within. I raised these huge risks to our national asset with the Culture Secretary this week:

Outrageous that Live Facial Recognition is being used on local people in Crawley today.

I have warned ministers that police are acting unlawfully by deploying this intrusive technology with no approval from Parliament.

I presented Ella's Law to Parliament in July with cross-party support, but its second reading risks being rescheduled.

✍️Please write to the Prime Minister to ask for Government time to progress Ella’s Law, or for the Bill’s provisions to be added to existing legislation!

The Government must give us more time in Parliament to progress #EllasLaw and make breathing clean air a human right.

Today I joined cross-party MPs, the brilliant
@ellarobertafdn.bsky.social, and clean air activists all calling for stronger action on deadly air pollution.

I have placed a tribute on behalf of Brighton Pavilion in Parliament’s remembrance garden. In memory of all those harmed in wars.

On remembrance day we must reaffirm our commitment to building lasting peace across the world.

I have updated my official log of lobbying and policy meetings for the past three months.

This should be a basic requirement for all MPs. We all need to know who those who serve us meet with, and in whose interests they act.

Wearing pink this Breast Cancer Awareness Month in support of all those affected by this life-altering disease.

@breastcancernow.bsky.social's vision is that by 2050 everyone diagnosed will live. 🩷

As their MP Ambassador, I will keep using my voice in parliament to achieve this.

Back in July, with the brilliant Mandu Reid, I published a manifesto for a Universal Early Years Future.

It sets out the case for a future with universal childcare, provided free at the point of use, for every child and parent.

This Government is threatening to blow our carbon budget just to fuel Heathrow’s greedy business model.

Instead it should be listening to the people who want their bills cut, their water in public hands, and their homes made safe and warm.

Thank you to all at @eastsussexfrs.bsky.social for an informative visit to listen to Green Watch.

Our fire services need urgent new funding. The commitment and passion of the people working to keep us safe was plain to see.

Bravo to all those working in these dangerous and vital jobs! 🚒👩‍🚒

Harry Willcock was the last person in the UK to be prosecuted for refusing to produce an ID card. He was stopped by police who demanded to see his ID and he refused, saying, “I am against this sort of thing.” a-history-of-rawdon.co.uk/clarence-har...

In 1952 the Churchill government abolished ID cards, restoring personal liberties. Labour’s plans for mandatory digital ID, alongside restrictions on protest, threaten those same liberties.

Listen to the millions signing petitions in opposition, and scrap this Orwellian proposal!

I have come to the conclusion the EHRC guidance on single sex spaces should not even come to Parliament. It is misleading and has caused distress for my trans constituents.

I urge @bphillipsonMP to reject it on grounds of practicality and human rights.

It is my mission to see solar panels on as many roofs as possible.

Great to catch up with @bhesco.bsky.social at one of their projects and hear about the new community energy scheme with residents in Preston Park #Brighton.

Using British fun, humour and ridicule to oppose tyrants is real patriotism.

Paid a visit to the London arms fair today...

Found a component for cluster munitions, banned under international law, on full display.

Confirmed by staff, and removed swiftly by event organisers. But what else remains?

These vile weapons should never be peddled in the UK.

Why is the Government so tragically unenterprising when it comes to electric buses?

TfL has been procuring only electric buses since 2021, but Govt wants to wait until at least 2030 for a national mandate.

Dirty air is a killer, we need #EllasLaw and much (!) more ambition.
September 11, 2025 at 9:59 AM
New column!

I visited the ingenious team behind Gomi, a Brighton studio creating speakers and phone backs from non-recyclable plastic.

Trump's tariffs are hitting our small businesses hard, and Govt must do more to oppose his divide and rule tactics.

Latest 💩 sewage 💩 alert.

Southern Water hiked bills more than any other water supplier this year. Is the money being used to fix Brighton’s Victorian water system? Clearly not!

It is diabolical that these private companies continue to profit while our coast is polluted.

Huge congratulations to @zackpolanski.bsky.social elected as the next Leader of @greenparty.org.uk 👏👏

Greens are on the up. We have already achieved so much, but there is more to be done offering a true alternative to this dire version of Labour.

Let’s get to it! 💚
