is a new graphics card an Ordinary and Necessary expense for my business if my nvidia driver crashes every few minutes and makes KDE restart?

note to self: don't use cheap cr2032's in your car keyfob unless you want to accidentally strand your wife.

Cursed product idea: a vape that requires YubiKey 2FA before every hit.

Market it to security professionals as "MFA-enforced harm reduction."

I'll admit it: I didn't really understand default vs. alternative ACLs in Linux until a client asked me about them last week. So I did what I always do--pulled up a terminal and figured it out in real time, with them watching.

(Also, getfacl and setfacl are cooler than I gave them credit for.)

No, docusign... I don't want an AI summary of a legal document.

Best question from Texas LinuxFest:

"If everything is a file in Linux, what kind of file is imposter syndrome?"

Answer: /dev/null - you keep writing to it but nothing actually persists.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Rocky booth. You reminded me why I love this weird, wonderful world.

Day 1 at #TexasLinuxFest!

Already heard one whole manifesto about why everything should be a flatpak (barf).

Stop by the Rocky booth if you need:

• To argue about init systems
• Stickers (while they last)
• Honest infrastructure consulting perspective

See you there!

Heading out tomorrow to Texas LinuxFest this Friday with Rocky Linux! 🐧

If you're in Austin, come find me at the Rocky booth. Happy to talk about what Rocky's been up to or just grab a sticker and complain about something :)

Who else will be there? Let's connect! Drop a comment or DM me.

Sent a 2-page PDF to my printer. 10 minutes later it's still spitting out raw PostScript. Double-sided.

"Toner low: black"

No kidding.

The printer remains undefeated.

Anyone need some scratch paper?

"Everything is a file"

Student: "Even processes?"
Me: "Yep"
Student: "Even devices?"
Me: "Yep"
Student: "Even network connections?"
Me: "Yep"
Student: "This makes no sense"
Me: "Yep. But it works. Welcome to Linux."

Found aws-vault this week. Decent tool for managing AWS credentials without leaving them scattered across your filesystem like breadcrumbs for hackers.

OTOH, if you need 15 tools to safely use AWS, maybe the problem isn't your tooling?

https://github.com/ByteNess/aws-vault

Might blog about it.
