If you tell me to compromise on people's rights for some nebulous greater good I will always say Yours First Then.

I am a Black man. That means I am both marginalized and privileged.

As a marginalized person encroaching on the rights of others offends me. As a privileged person it also offends me.

This is how authoritarian regimes test the waters. The first disappearance is a warning. If no one fights back, the next one comes easier. And the one after that. Until fear replaces resistance.

Now, imagine this happening to you. Would anyone fight for you?

I think a wide-ranging curiosity and willingness to look stupid are great skills to have, something I actively have to try and cultivate and reinforce whenever I feel myself getting comfortable.

Vigorously fight for the freedom of other marginalised peoples, same as you fight for yours. Because their freedom is tied to yours. The ruling class either sets us all free at the same time, or they don't. There's no two ways about it. No half measures, no short cuts, no behind the scene deals.

As a member of the working class, if my daily bread is earned via the genocide and ethnic cleansing of other working class peoples, then I am a class traitor. Simple as that!! Grandma taught me to not hunger for that kinda bread. It's bread soaked in the blood of my working class family.

The thing that separates a useful tool from an abuse of data is, and always remains, CONSENT. Does the tool take someone's work and put it outside their control? If it does, it's theft, and you should not do it to someone who has not indicated they don't consider that use theft.
