COYS etc., escaping the other place. I might only post about running and generally lurk on other stuff
Good shout - I think I will go and delete mine if I can remember how to log in

Not that anyone would have a reason to impersonate me, but I left my account dormant rather than deleting because of a concern that if you delete it someone can effectively take your account over as the user name becomes available. Not sure what the better option is?

On the plus side it's nice that people want to be encouraging.

I did consider keeping the activity private, recently I've only posted races not training, but I didn't really want to hide either the performance or my disappointment with it. Having taken a month off work to train and then fucking up doesn't feel great.

1 more week of full on training before 2 week taper

Couldn't have run much quicker than the 7:33 min/mile I did yesterday. Weekly totals, Running: 61 miles, Swimming 3.7 miles, Cycling 28 miles. Planning to run more easy miles this week, but add some intervals/quality back in. I have 2 more weeks of peak training before target event (14th September)

I never paid attention to HR zones before about June and it's been a significant change in how I am training. At first I really struggled to run with the HR below about 150 and I was constantly looking at the HR. After 2-3 months I feel like I have a reasonable idea where my HR is without looking.

Worth adding as a disclaimer that I haven't stuck to any specific formula like Maffetone, and I haven't done a proper lactate test so I know my zones might be slightly off.

I'm averaging low zone 2 on most runs (around 30bpm lower than what I called easy before), and pace is around 45s/1min per mile slower now (I have speeded up at this effort over the last couple of months).

I think this is pretty sound advice. I have a bit of a compulsion and I know I run the risk of injury, but it is certainly lower knowing that the easy runs are genuinely easy (HR 30 bpm lower than what I would have considered easy before). Massage, foam roller, loads of sleep also helping.

Also, obviously not working helps
