And so says anyone managing young people in state schools. Parenting is something you have to learn….from your own competent parents or from state help. Getting a good start is not a given.

This blog post is really very beautiful because the pragmatics are an expression of deep respect for the smaller humans we are responsible for but aren't better than.

Just posted new blog on Bluesky and not (yet) on Twitter. Be interesting to see engagement. Will I fold and put it on Twitter too? Please help me avoid the temptation by reposting here!

I absolutely do have favourite mugs, but I find myself carefully ensuring I drink out of each mug I own in rotation so they don't find out which are the favourites, because I don't want to hurt their feelings.

I am nearly 50 years old. I am aware mugs are not sentient.

And yet.

Recording the #PrimaryFutures podcast has been a huge privilege and it's great to see the episodes coming out. You can hear my conversations with experts on diverse areas of primary education. People coming from really different standpoints from those familiar from twitter. Give it a listen!

This is good news.

Is it connected to the fact that more students ARE disadvantaged now? Percentages of children who are DA in Sheffield are higher for overall population now - assume that’s relevant in this cohort of students?

A niche-interest post!
If your post A-level child is considering the Art Foundation Course at Chesterfield College, I would highly recommend. A stunning course with truly inspiring tutors. A hidden away gem that should be better known.
