It's no secret there are many days when I regret going to UT Austin. It's a terrible time for LGBTQIA+ people everywhere, especially Texas. I knew things were bad when our dean resigned but DAMN pledging loyalty to the Trump administration and calling it an honor? something else entirely.

Watching younger queer people have representation in media just melts my heart. It’s very healing for those of us who didn’t have it—despite EVERYTHING—the kids are alright. 🌈

I think something I don't talk about enough is the pain of being the only first gen student in my cohort, in addition to being from a background of rural poverty. I'm only starting to unpack the impact that has had on my work and my confidence as a researcher.
