Myopic perspectives make our military far less lethal. After serving 35 years with 15 of those managing readiness for 34 reporting units anytime indiv performance goes up unit readiness also increases. Bringing your whole self to the fight increases indiv performance. Pretty simple.
This Atlantic article feels like an obituary to a government whose purpose was to serve the American people.

Unfortunately, this is wrong. I've had front row seats to what flag officers will do even when there's direct parallels to what the Wehrmacht did prior to WWII (Kicking out the Jews / trans people), and yeah, at the end of the day they'll mostly just follow orders. A few will resign, but not most.
