Mind, the Jewish canon is pretty much an explicit rejection of this. It posits an interaction with such evidence where we actually come away with a renewed inward focus. Might be part of why Lovecraft was such a fervent antisemite and racist. People who’d had his core realization and rejected it.

This is kind of the basis of cosmic horror. The realization that we’re so insignificant nothing we do could possibly matter, and that, after encountering evidence of this utter futility, you still have to go back to a society that pretends at us having significance.

Like, I don’t get uncomfortable around churches and crosses because I fear I’m missing out on Jesus. It’s 100% because there’s millennia of precedent for them targeting my people in particular.

But I never said words couldn't change. As I said, they mean what they're USED to mean, and change as that changes. Choosing, arbitrarily, to define them in a way that flouts their common usage is just a vanity project, and you apparently ARE that vain.
