"PCness ruined comedy" = "I don't get to punch down without consequences anymore." Sorry that people demanded you be funnier than you were. 😘

Paul Reubens reveals himself early in Pee-Wee As Himself. "Death is so final. To be able to get your message in at the last minute, or at some point, is incredible." He was so scared of how he'd be perceived that he never wanted to unmask. It was only safe if he wasn't around to witness the response

Nathan Fielder. I hope HBO gives you money forever.

Get home from rehearsal LATE + sit down to finish an application for a job due at midnight ... at 11:40 PM, I realize they need me to RECORD INTERVIEW ANSWERS. 😂 You get two takes. My first take was great, but then I couldn't find the stop button. I hope "haggard" is the vibe they're going for ...

The Rehearsal Season 2 is almost here. @matthew-sherman.bsky.social and I are pretty convinced Fielder was able to orchestrate the advance attention on aviation disasters in the media these past few months to coincide. I want to teach a college class on him. Clearly, at a liberal arts college.

Right now, I'm technically jobless, but I'm also the lead costumer for a district-wide middle school musical. There are: 80 kids, two casts, three outfits each (shared when possible), and 2 breakneck whole ensemble quick changes. I'm under budget & my spreadsheets are divine. Hire creatives. 😘

The universe never gives me time and money at the same time. Which I recognize is a safety precaution. BUT help me dream. IF I was going to New York on a solo trip and I'd already decided to watch Maybe Happy Ending & Death Becomes Her ... but I get to pick ONE MORE show ... would you see ...

When my love of science fiction and musical theater collide. Scheming to get myself to New York to see my new obsession. Like, irresponsibly. Meet two decommissioned helper robots falling in love on a road trip to find a former owner. Here, they discuss their "two humans in love" cover story. 🥹🥹

Um. I started feeding the crows at my house so they would bring me gifts. I was successful. I feed crows; they bring gifts. But they ALSO flock to the trees off my porch & YELL at me ... and it's actually fucking terrifying to have dozens of angry dinosaurs demand dog food and eggs (the audacity).

Super cute to see Oregon's Congresswoman Maxine Dexter getting a John Oliver shout-out ... I'm definitely a proficient public profanity user, however. Happy to write speeches for anyone who needs strategic swearing. #forhire

Two things to know. 1) I lost my job last week & 2) in Oct, my friends & I went on a particularly bad ghost tour. So, right now, as I panic & think about what to do next, the only thing I keep wanting to do is open a RIVAL GHOST TOUR. Which is not a particularly helpful hyper-focus at the moment ...

I guess what I'm saying is ... you can give me a show with my crush and a childhood icon and fun dialogue ... but if you don't have Gwendoline Christie leading a bunch of severed goat people ... I think I don't want it.

Got 🍎TV for/during Severance, so I started Shrinking. Doesn't this take place in Pasadena? Do they all live on the same block?! Why are they always running into everyone they know EVERYWHERE? I laughed when they ran into a character hiking the first time ... but then ... twice? First draft move.

I'm doing this video about disaster movies and I just keep thinking how wild the 90s were. Like everything was so good they dreamed of disaster just for something to do.

Modern viewers want disaster but only if it ends it all. Like please stop this ride. "Somebody kill me, please."

The Academy Award list came out, and I have shockingly seen almost everything nominated already ... and oof. I have opinions. 😅 The Substance and Anora are worth watching to join the discourse ... Did Problemista come out this year? That was my favorite. (Not nominated, I just liked it.)

It's so abundantly refreshing to watch something tight and well-written -- something that feels like it knows where it's going. Storytelling at its finest. Can you tell I watched Severance tonight?

I NEVER answer my phone. But I have a few important appointments this weekend, and the hospital was calling, so I answered. It was an AUTOMATED MESSAGED TO CALL THEM BACK. No, no -- I already exerted labor to answer THIS call ... you don't get a second chance AND tell me to do the work!
