"real progress won’t come from non-disabled people caring about disability rights because it might one day affect them – it will come from caring that it already affects someone else"

STOP.

One of the THREE reasons the reasoned amendment exists is because Labour MPs didn’t consult with disabled people.

Don’t “fix” this by making DIFFERENT decisions about us without consulting us.

That’s literally doing the same thing twice.

My God. How can any Israeli person defend this?

Murdering 9 of the 10 children of one Palestinian doctor in Gaza.

It is truly abominable.

Israel is increasingly associated with mass slaughter of children.

As a woman, I have never felt threatened by the existence of trans people. If the Equality Act needs clarifying, fine, clarify it. But somewhere in that clarification we need to find a way to ensure trans people can live their lives without having to battle every day.

The worst of it is that they must know that these cuts won't save money in the long run (especially when you consider the impact on carers). But they probably don't dare change their minds for fear of 'looking weak'. Which is obviously more important than disabled people's actual lives.

Isn't it refreshing when a journalist bothers checking if a story is true or not? I wonder if any members of the Labour cabinet could follow suit?

"Politicians, it turns out, really are all the same. That is the sort of loss that can’t be measured by a Treasury spreadsheet. It is also something that – once lost – is deeply hard to get back."
“Eight months on from being elected on the promise of “change”, we’re beginning to see what Labour’s version of that looks like: sweeping cuts to disabled people’s social security. Change, it seems, isn’t coming for everyone.”

Everybody: It's hard to watch the news these days. It's nothing but killing and suffering, the rich getting richer and the poor taking the hit.
Politicians: Yes. Let's see if we can make things even worse.

And none of this will save the taxpayer any money in the long run. People who can't work will still not be able to work. Employers will still be unwilling to offer truly flexible hours. But the NHS will be asked to step in to manage the damage.
Making #PIP harder to claim and freezing payments would drive countless disabled folk into worse poverty. Household with at least one #disabled adult or child face average extra costs of £975 per month; this is already insufficiently met which is why food bank use is more common.

Why do the government keep saying there is ‘no consensus from experts’ on what is increasing the number of people on #PIP? Literally every expert recognises long delays for treatment are worsening disability which becomes entrenched more with lack of early care.

Listening to politicians talk about asylum seekers it sounds like their one & only purpose is to keep people out.

Which of you is not too much of a coward to say: it is GOOD that people escape from danger.

And it is GOOD that the UK can be a place of sanctuary, actually.
