It's a weird one, isn't it? I think it's a helpful shorthand for readers when dealing with made-up names in made-up worlds and no easy reference points. But obviously lots of cultures and languages don't follow this convention. See for instance male Russian pet names such as Misha, Sasha etc.

The thing is, as soon as you look at the reality of how this ruling might be applied in practice you see that it is not clear and a simplistic binary view of gender is not helpful. And quite honestly, trans people are not the problem right now.

What good does it do anyone to force seriously disabled and unwell people to prove that they are applying for jobs they are unable to do? This is morally and economically dumb. Also the reason disabled people get more money is because being disabled is expensive. 2/3
