I woke up this morning just tired of all the violence, rhetoric and chaos. I’m yearning for simpler times and better days. So here’s some old witchy art based on Barbara Payton. As usual I’m just doing Thursday. One day at a time and hoping today is filled with hope and promise.

If you find a reason to be happy, take it. Life is short. Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.

As Kurt Vonnegut was fond of saying, “So it goes…”

Joseph Clement Coll (July 2, 1881 – October 19, 1921) was an American book and newspaper illustrator.

With great command over his pen, he could form both delicate subtle lines and bold black slashes.

No undo or back buttons. Just pure art.

Eight years ago I made the hardest decision of my life. Recovery didn’t fix everything, but it gave me the chance to face it all with clear eyes and a sober mind. It’s a daily reprieve, granted by God, and I’m deeply grateful.

My blue period. This was something I started doing completely by accident.I just dipped the brush into the wrong bottle and I liked the way the blue looked.

I find the blue kind of serene. It tends to add this softness and ethereal side to the ink washes. I’ve never used it for much professionally.

I’ve (finally) been working on my passion project again. I was happy with this panel today. I’m liking the work on this. It’s got really interesting villains, great heroes and spy werewolves. What’s not to like?

Sometimes the bad things that happen in our lives put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen to us.

Art is Tuesday Weld. I worked on a movie with her way back in the 90s. Feeling Minnesota. Great script. Great cast. Not a great final product. I did like the crew jackets.

My pal McLovin hurt his foot. So he’s wearing the cone. I’ve tried to convince him that all the COOL Great Pyrenees are wearing them this Spring. I’m not sure he believes me…

No one is more romantic than a cynic.
Art is Cary Grant and Grace Kelly in 1955’s To Catch a Thief. One of my favorite of Alfred Hitchcock's films.

If you are a federal worker being offered a buyout, I would advise against taking it.

Of course, this is a personal decision for everyone and it’s your choice.

But these offers are a rush job. The legality is questionable and this admin does not keep to its word.

They aren’t firing for a reason.

I was a gawky kid when The Blues Brothers came out in 1980, I loved this movie. I used to cut school to go see it. That probably explains a lot of what came later. But man it was such a great intro to R & B and all those giant musical performances. I still hate Illinois Nazis.

As I near another trip around the sun in this brief and insubstantial life of mine, it makes me believe we often take too many things for granted—property, privilege, technology, and the comforts of home.
