West Coast numbers are coming in, and estimates have now surpassed 5 million. People are still pouring into the streets—nearly 2% of the American population is rising up. America, we are so proud of you. You did it.

About a decade ago we “adopted” Sities at The Sheldrick Foundation. Her mom likely a victim of poaching. We visited the Nairobi orphanage in 2010 and have adopted elephants since about 2007. Sities just had a baby boy and brought it back to be seen. www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/news/updates...
Sities Gives Birth to Sunni, Her First Baby
It’s a boy! Sities — a very special orphan whose story is interwoven with triumph over the poaching crisis — has given birth to a beautiful baby bull, whom we named Sunni. He is Sities’s first baby, m...

When we were under this foul/fowl president the first time, I started watching The Repair Shop. I think because everything people brought in got fixed. And there are extraordinary craftspeople repairing them. There was care and repair. I’m so worried right now. Love to anyone who needs it.

Hundreds of NOAA employees are being fired by Trump and DOGE.

The National Weather Service, which is part of NOAA, provides life saving weather forecasting in the US.

A study found that for every $1 invested in NWS, it produces $73 in value to Americans.

Again, this isn't about efficiency.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

We want to send a message to the world: what has happened today is an absolute disgrace. It is completely un-American.

My father worked with NOAA throughout his career and after he retired from the Navy. He was the deputy director of the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington. He worked with NOAA so much that we were sent a letter from them after he died in 1999. I just can’t.
NOAA is an absolute mess, and it’ll be worse tomorrow. Please help us. There have already been over 1,000 terminations. It’s not just layoffs—Elon Musk and his staffers are trying to completely dismantle us. Today, there were tons of firings, and more are coming tomorrow.

I absolutely would have been a part of this if I was in DC. Thank you, artists. And keep protesting. We have the gift of being extraordinarily creative in the ways we reflect behavior/life/humanity back to humans. Keep at it. Keep making them look. www.npr.org/2025/02/18/n...
