Have we figured out why people who are already minted work so much and don’t cash out their surplus capital into leisure time yet? Is it peer group status competition? Capitalism surfacing a never ending set of desirable goods that are just out of reach? They just love work?

Will AI actually preserve bullshit jobs because the substantive work, which I define as primarily about producing high quality deliverables, will be done by AI? So all that’s left is actually the signaling stuff?

Social web as protocols rather than platforms harkens back to the early web, a web I’m frankly too young to know. This is often framed as web3 vs web1. Almost like a web1 protocol style unbundling of web2 platform innovations and modes of engaging. What’s missing?
