This is the same issue as silent films:

1% of them were cash cows for copyright holders, so they bullied anyone trying to preserve the other 99% and the result is massive decay and destruction of media that didn’t have to be lost

Merriam Webster’s Word of 2023 is “authentic.” Oxford Dictionary’s is “rizz.” For me, I’m with Edutopia and so, so many teachers… “dysregulated.”
