We're all champin' for updates to Durham St...! The screens are down; we can see through the site fencing... so close, we can almost *smell* the end of the grim Sargasso that is the Great Victoria Grosvenor Road Doldrum.

Harsh review of the ASUS C101PA 11'' Chromebook from 2018 - not wrong per se, but I keep coming back to this little semi-obsolete unit because it's so damn portable. And the keyboard is grand, actually. www.techradar.com/reviews/asus...

Partition, ballsing things up for >100 years. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
How a plan to redraw the Irish border fell apart
In the early years of partition, the exact line the border took was still very much up for debate.

If this is true, and like many cults, I suspect it is, you'd be enormously foolish to invest in Tesla, since so many of its eggs are in one basket case.

As many of you know, I love #Nazareth - such a great wee town - but it's always been a bit... shabby. The amazing residents are cleaning it up - click the video, even if you don't speak #Arabic - the Levantine dialect is beautiful.

Wonderfully wet and wild.

Make up all the bug hotels and bird boxes you want, but without way more healthy wild natural habitats like this, nature will continue to crash.

Rewilding is how we make that happen.

The idea is to decouple the journals from the review step. They’ll still exist, but they’ll need to add other value. They’ll highlight, curate, add new perspectives. If they do a good job they can still be prestigious (like Scientific American or Wired) (1.2) 👇

Playing w old "Cardboard #VR" format for some teaching stuff for #Pathology / #Genomics / #Genetics. This one from a few years ago: I pitched up in the lab with a 360 camera, grabbed Maria & colleagues totally unprepared/unscripted - great! @belfasttrust.bsky.social www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEdU...

The problem with Pope Leo is he places far too much weight on the teachings of an obscure Jewish teacher called Jesus of Nazareth, rather than centuries of theological scholarship and development.
“Speaking in English, and reaching a US audience directly, the pope reiterated the Catholic belief that every Christian will ultimately be judged on how they welcomed "the foreigner". (Luke 10:25-37)
Pope Leo offers his strongest criticism of Trump yet
The Pope, who is American, called for "deep reflection" on how migrants are treated, and spoke against US bombing of Venezuelan vessels.

This is fantastic work from Derry & Strabane Council and local businesses. The availability, accessibility and hygiene of toilet facilities are key indicators of public wellbeing and the standard of a society, and a critical enabler of the economy.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Public toilets: Why is Derry and Strabane Council paying businesses for bathrooms?
The scheme is the only one of its kind in Northern Ireland, with businesses receiving £300 to £800 per year.

Growing up in the 1970s in Northern Ireland, we had this picture of New York and its people as loud, brash, in-your-face, and full-on crazy. In reality, the people are warm and lovely, and it's a wonderful place to visit. Well done, NY, and alf mabrook ya @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

Farage will destroy the UK - Scotland and Northern Ireland will leave. Whether or not he can "turn his words into reality", those are neither words nor a reality that are good for the UK or its constituent countries, so he can get in the sea.
Once again, this isn’t journalism. It’s stroking the ego of a politician who’s done great national harm.
WhyTF should we take Farage seriously? Just because he wants power? Even more reason for ruthless scrutiny.
His track record is racist and ruinous. Any serious journalist would say so.

I’m enjoying reading this, and was particularly struck by this passage from Sam McBride. I think it applies as much to the unity debate as it does to debates around reforming how politics works in Northern Ireland within the Union @ria.ie @arinsproject.bsky.social @sjamcbride.bsky.social
