Pitch perfect response from Georgetown Law reminding Ed Martin that it’s wildly inappropriate on both religious liberty and free speech grounds for him to attempt to use the power of his (interim) office to dictate what curriculum is “unacceptable” at the university.
With his permission, I'm sharing Dean Treanor's response to Ed Martin's letter:

Sadly… the senator is spot on.
French Senator Claude Malhuret:

"Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine... We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor."

This.
The death penalty is abhorrent and should be eliminated in all cases.

While commuting 90%+ of Federal death sentences is good, I am hesitant to cheer too loudly when that announcement reinforces the idea that there are some actions that are so beyond the pale that you lose your humanity.

Perks of living in the northeast:

I just booked my mom a flight to New York (where she has never been). I’ll meet her there for a day in NY before taking the train back to CT and then driving to Ohio for the holidays a day or so later. I’m really looking forward to it.

Out on FirstView & OpenAccess 📣 @shanegleasonphd.bsky.social in 'I Can’t See You; Can You Hear Me?' asks how the move to teleconference arguments at the Supreme Court during COVID-19 changed justices' assessments of attorneys' gender performances.

Started today by seeing my new article at Politics and Gender as Online first!

Briefly, the shift to teleconference arguments changes the way gender norms shape attorney success and makes it harder for female attorneys to navigate the double bind.

Cat rescue run tonight. Meet Elrond. Trapped in a parking lot at the dorms. I am so grateful to the Cat Club for triangulating location and managing foot traffic while I trapped this sweet kitty.

We can't hire graders until they're sure enrollment will be high enough... then the usual slow paperwork.....

I am about 100 papers deep in grading... thankfully the end is in sight.

Today I met with the local community college... they're launching a cat program like the one at our university. I'm so glad our model is helping cats in other places too.

This is Baxter. He is not so patiently waiting for his canned Friskees.
