I admit I got good stuff from Vinyl Me, Please during the pandemic (VEEDON FLEECE, SO... HOW'S YOUR GIRL?, etc). But I'm really glad I unsubscribed within a year. This article is full of "I don't want Santana Abraxis! I've just been in a terrible auto accident!" horror stories.
Good morning. For @stereogum.com, I wrote another long piece about Vinyl Me, Please, this time investigating the company's millions of dollars in unpaid debts, interviewing vendors who got screwed, and examining VMP's troubled relaunch under new ownership.

They should have asked me ("Barstool Blues" FTR).
The great Neil Young turns 80 tomorrow.

To celebrate, we asked 80 artists including Jeff Tweedy, Dave Matthews, Brittany Howard, Michael Stipe, Open Mike Eagle, Jewel, Tom Morello, Kurt Vile, Allison Russell, Matt Berninger, Perfume Genius, A-Trak, and many more about their favorite Neil song:

Let me write the next James Bond movie.

"Everyone knows 007 was poisoned by nanobots and killed in a missile strike. What this film presupposes is, maybe he didn't."
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Almost impossible for me to choose my favorite Isleys album. Their run from '69-'77 is practically unbeatable IMO.
MOJO’s next How To Buy guide is on The Isley Brothers. Reply to let us know what your favourite albums from Ronald, Rudolph and O’Kelly are and why and we’ll print the best responses in a future issue 👇

1. We need to bring back sitcom titles that are just a person's name.
2. A real jump scare waiting for you in this cast.

Notorious
Shadow of a Doubt
Vertigo
The 39 Steps
Shadow of a Doubt
Rear Window
Top three Hitchcock:
North By Northwest
Shadow Of A Doubt
Rebecca

There was a lot of competition for the third spot but Rebecca has George Sanders entering a house via the French windows, so it wins.

Not sure how good Bluesky is for niche-y crowdsourcing. HOWEVER, if you were to make an autumnal/spooky Robyn Hitchcock mix, what songs would you include? Think “Autumn is Your Last Chance,” “The Black Crow Knows,” etc. The likes of “Furry Green Atom Bowl” need not apply.
