I didn't really get what the Batman vs Bateman ads were about, because I only heard the tagine but didn't really look at what was on screen. I assumed it was a Christian Bale thing and was thinking "Patrick Bateman would probably still get the job done, if distastefully."

There's a rabbit hopping around in the backyard and agitating the cats. I didn't put out any food on purpose, so I'll have to check later to see which of my new plants it decided was food.

Can anyone else feel the breeze on your eyeballs immediately after taking out your contacts, or is it just me?

I feel sick to my shoulders, somehow? Not really sure how that works.

I'm a perfectionist about the things that I don't do. The things I actually accomplish are things I have convinced myself it's okay to do imperfectly. "Half assed is better than no ass" is something I tell myself but don't always believe.

I figured out I was dreaming around the time when @tkingfisher.com organized a Chanticleer concert in my house. But it was a good concert, so I decided to stay asleep.

Calligraphy practice for today.

Calligraphy practice. Apparently two cartridge fills of Golden Beryl without rinsing the feed involves enough dried shimmer to clog a Pilot Parallel. I wasn't sure it was possible to clog one of those but now I know.

Calligraphy practice. "Existentialism" was too long a word to fit on one line with the 6mm nib, so I had to size down to a 4.5mm pen with the sadly discontinued Pelikan Edelstein Golden Beryl ink.

Calligraphy practice. Took me a while to get a satisfactory N, and the Batarde s is just weird. Annnd I conflated the c and e in significance, dammit.

Calligraphy practice. I improvised on the long esses because I couldn't find an exemplar, and I ran out of room for the rest of the definition.

More calligraphy practice.

Calligraphy practice. I'm... not doing well.

Today's calligraphy practice is a blend of Italic and Cancellaresca Corsiva. I like the angle of the Cancellaresca, but apparently my hand prefers more upright forms. And that p is fun but doesn't really mesh with the rest of the letter forms.

Calligraphy practice today is in Italic script.

I made a starter pack, a list (the same as the feed plus one person who wasn't searchable) and a feed (the list plus any posts that mention TJHSST) for the TJ Alumni Underground group from Facebook.

Starter pack: go.bsky.app/RHodXBe
List: bsky.app/profile/did:...

An Aztec pangram for today's practice.

Do users get notified when added to a Bluesky list or starter pack?

The pangram for today's calligraphy practice is my abridgement of Pangur Ban. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pangur_...

Calligraphy practice from a few years back, of John M Ford's sonnet "Against Entropy".

In no particular order, I'm interested in: cats, sociology, SCA, fencing, calligraphy, historical costuming, cosplay, science fiction, fantasy, progressive politics, reading, PNW, intersectional feminism, and data analysis.
