It’s infuriating that the current bullshit James Bond “continuity” discourse is due to a clickbait article based around Bond novelist Anthony Horowitz complaining… when, in his latest Bond novel, he heavily implies Bond is killed at the end! It’s only OK when you do it, Tony?

Glad to see Polygon cover the resistance of game developers to generative AI--and to be able to speak briefly to one of the greatest dangers of this entire thing.

Gen AI doubles down on making MORE SPACE for production issues that *already make games worse.*

If the new Steam Controller manages to overcome the biggest stumbling blocks that Windows has put up in front of *their own controllers*... I'd buy that day one.
Between how Windows handles who gets to be player one and locking button programming behind a Windows Store account, I'm ready to switch.

Absolutely essential viewing from @chrisbratt.bsky.social on Rockstar’s sackings, which appear to be the single most flagrant example of union busting in the history of the videogames industry. Rockstar has provided absolutely zero evidence to support any of their claims. youtu.be/c9nOwjeznjI?...

If you're still in a Frankenstein mood after hitting the cinema this weekend, and you have a Shudder account, check out "The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster." It's a pretty clever twist on the story, and has big ideas in a more intimate setting.

Wizards of the Coast's email about "greater clarity" in its T&Cs was a slight understatement.

It's a full-blown class-action waiver. I've read the old and new docs so you don't have to. Here are the real changes.
D&D Beyond now requires you to agree to a Class Action Waiver
Wizards of the Coast's new T&Cs for D&D Beyond aren't a simple update. We break down the new class-action waiver, liability cap, and one positive user change.

To paraphrase Simone Weil (the better Simone) in THE NEED FOR ROOTS, the difference between a need and a desire is that a need can be sated, and desire never can be.
Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

What Jay said.

An actor at my Chicago agency worked on the Obama campaign. News would happen, campaign would come up with a reaction, write a script, work it, get approval, have actor ready *in the middle of the night* to record.

Spot would be ready to run on morning talk shows the NEXT DAY.
Like others I played the Arc Raiders playtest, enjoyed it and was looking forward to the game only to discover they are using AI voices.

Their reasoning was that they can "go from ideation to implemented voice work in hours not months"

Thing is, that's not an AI issue, that's a pipeline problem...

I've been seeing quite a few MAGA edgelord accounts today.

Friendly reminder:

Block immediately, and do not engage.

I know they're not having as much fun on twitter with so many of us here, but it's not our job to pet them and feed them little treats of attention.

Do not engage.
