nope, not photoshopped. I pulled this picture directly off FOX News website. While the doors are open in this, you can still see that they are covered all over with gold doodads. It's embarrassing.

on Veterans Day I often think of my two Aunts Mary Greer and Sue Greer Schiller who served as nurses during WWII. Mary was an Army nurse (Captain) and Sue was a Navy Nurse. I only have pictures of Mary in uniform from the 1940's. Both aunts spent some time in northern Africa during the war.

It's been a pleasant, sunny, but blustery day, with the wind bringing down most of the leaves, but there are still patches of bright color like this tree at the lower edge of our property (caught on two different days).

It was foggy this morning when I took Alice to the vet over in Pound, VA. The colors are beginning to pop, although we are a ways away from peak color at this point. I love running errands in October, getting to watch the progression of color.

one of my favorite movies, but also one of my favorite Diane Keaton roles: Reds.

sixteen years ago, I stopped on the side of the road on the way home from work to take photos of Pine Mountain and the clouds, it was an October day much like today, at the same point in the cycle of autumn color as we are currently at - mostly green still with just bits of color

The last full week in September brings our local Mountain Heritage Festival in Letcher County, we had some rain today (which often accompanies the festival) and it reminded me of these rainbow pictures taken at the festival ten years ago.

Wright takes one fact that due to natural annual variation there is slightly more ice in the Arctic at this moment than there was 10 years ago - but less than 20 years ago, less than 30 years ago, to support a totally invalid larger conclusion on lack of climate change. nsidc.org/sea-ice-today

Way to go Jerry Greenfield, for standing up for your principles. We'll miss the ice cream, but the values are more important. Jerry Greenfield scooping Ben & Jerry's ice cream on the Oberlin campus in 2014 for the cluster reunion of classes 1973, 1974 and 1975 (photo by Sue Greer-Pitt)

today was the day 15 years ago that I rescued tiny Alice, a feral kitty who was very sick and could not run away like her siblings did. Today is also the day I go pick not so tiny Alice up from the vet after two days of nebulizer treatments for her chronic sinus infections.

For a beautiful rainy Saturday, a rainy day picture from years ago, a broken down American elm surrounded by sunny flowers.

woke up to a rainy day, the rain makes the leaves shiny, especially on the autumn olive outside my window.

autumn reds on maple trees and others are appearing much earlier this year (especially compared with 2024), these were taken in Pound, VA on the southern side of Pine Mountain.

One September long past this little grasshopper stayed still long enough to have their portrait taken.

So my account was suspended for almost 2 weeks, as I apparently got lost in the cracks. Now it's back but in the meantime I created a second account, so now there are two greerpitts on blsky. Nearly two weeks of me not posting photos of local flora and fauna so here's a bunch of stuff all at once.
