I'm a problem solver for social justice.

Also a Polymath, proud papa, polyamorous, prodigious with the puns, progress pundit, and occasional technologist.
One of the most horrifying headlines I could have ever imagined for the lives of children.

The bailout Argentina's right wing government ($40B) would have funded about 2 years of USAID globally at 2024 expense rates.

In the wake of Elon Musk securing a $1T incentive package, let's remember DOGE "savings" were somewhere between $1.4B (realistically) and $52B (self reported). So with anywhere from 0.14% to 5% of just his personal payout thay he set up firing ppl investigating Tesla.

I think Mamdani missed a chance to build bigger on his victory speech. It was late, he's young, but the campaign was not "against trump" but "for affordability". It's a powerful inversion that he should continue to wield, and he was at his best when he sung that tune.

I was held together today by an abstract journey into Jacques Derrida's Of Grammatology. It was a day that needed abstraction and difference because no writing could capture it, nor should it.

I did not let my kids play these platforms until age 13. At that time they saw the negative effects on their peers and said no. The closest were private Minecraft severs where I knew the kids and their parents. I don't think the responsibility is on the platforms, its up to us as parents to say no.

Yesterday, I learned that the US brought German and Italian POWs to the US and put them to work on US military bases.

Some people think she's smaller than she is. Yet she grows bigger with each wave of immigrants she welcomes, with each batch of freedoms, of rights, of generation welcomed into the Middle class. Don't let them make her small, not on this July 4th.

@owasow.bsky.social would be interesting to compare with William Gamson's Strategy of Social Protest.
A partial answer suggested by research on 1960s civil disobedience is that certain kinds of protests—particularly those met by state violence—can generate sympathy and redefine contours of majority.

One example from Taeku Lee’s work on constituency mail following Selma to Montgomery marches:

Watched #Sinners. It's a Masterpiece. Did you know that vampires are a part of Xhosa and Zulu mythology? The impundulu were immortal demon like birds who drank blood.

They are a big part of Marlon James' Dark Star Trilogy books.

After some thought, let him have it. Let it be gilded and gaudy. Don't even inspect it for security. Fly it out of Newark. Set up Signal on every seat. Let it live on in his library for his personal use.

A perfect flying reminder of the greatest kleptocracy the world has ever seen.
