Trying to think of something that literally anyone can do … I put a candle in my front window for Kilmar. I don’t have a large social following, but I’d love to see candles popping up across the country.

Trump's mass deportations aren't just pointlessly cruel.

His own Labor Department is now warning they are "threatening the stability of domestic food production and prices" for Americans.

We should be offering the people who feed us a path out of the shadows — not demonizing them.

Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

Librarian friends, if you have not yet watched this talk by @katestarbird.bsky.social , it is an excellent summary of her team's research on rumors and disinformation.
On Feb 24, I gave a lecture at UW explaining what my team's decade-plus research on online rumors during crises reveals about the right wing "bullshit machine." Fittingly, a lightning strike impacted the original audio. Here's a fixed version w/ the full transcript: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjiG...

What can you do when the government shuts down a scientific advisory group to prevent researchers and the public from working together on important issues? Start your own of course!

Federal Science Advisory Committees Are Being Defunded and Dismantled. Here’s a Toolkit to Help Independent Scientists Step Up
Despite the current Trump administration’s efforts to dismantle federal science advisory committees, scientists and their organizations can still collaborate to form independent committees.

I’m not OK with our government disappearing people. Staying silent is not an option.

Amplifying! It is time for every one of us to get out and march - or stand on a corner! Find a group near you ... #Indivisible, #VoteSaveAmerica, and hundreds of other groups are organizing. To quote @aoc.bsky.social, This is NOT Trump Country - it's OUR Country! Act now!
We either have a right peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for redress of grievances, or we are subjects of a king.

This is the point of street protest: by exercising democratic rights, we prove that state power has limits. If you haven't yet been to one, it's time to start.
Federal agents, including one uniformed homeland security officer, just broke up a press conference for 133 international students suing ICE, DHS and the attorney general.

Wrote about the administration’s dishonest rhetoric about immigration and how its obvious, grotesque dishonesty about Kilmer Abrego Garcia is exposing a much deeper rot.

Opinion | Trump wants 1 million deportations. One man is tripping him up.
Kilmar Abrego García’s story tells us far more than Trump’s dubious immigration numbers.

Here at Princeton, we’re amplifying our university president’s leadership. It’s time for everyone - faculty, students, staff - to speak out.

tl;dr: rights can’t be blackmailed.

Trump’s team is already saying they will not spend funds that Congress has authorized and appropriated.

There is no point in Democrats voting to fund the government only to let Trump and Musk do whatever they see fit with those funds.

Call your Senator: (202) 224-3121
Senate Democrats must vote against the Republican's continuing budget resolution
It's the only way to hold the Trump regime accountable. Call your senators now.
