Arpita Nandy successfully defended her doctoral thesis at the University of Freiburg this week!

Arpita, a SGBM SFB 1381 fellow, was supervised by our PI Nora Vögtle in the project B04.

We are excited to share that one of the recipients of this years "Wübben Student Grant" is master student Frédéric Sonak, who is working on a collaborative project between our SFB 1381 projects B10 (Claudine Kraft) and project YIG05 (Viviane Timmermann).
Congratulations, Frédéric!
55 outstanding students begin their final year of study with a Wübben Grant of €1,000 per month for one year. The grantees come from 12 countries, more than half of them are women. The programs of study reflect the breadth of cutting-edge research.

The Theory of Living Systems Symposium at @uni-freiburg.de's Institute of Physics highlighted cutting-edge research where #physics meets the #LifeSciences.
Co-organized by #CIBSS members, it gathered leading theoreticians to discuss physics-driven approaches to understanding living systems.

Congratulations 🎉 to our project A01 for their latest publication:

The team of our SFB 1381 PI Sonja Albers identified the archaellum machinery in several bacterial strains and solved the structure of the bacterial archaellum from Litorilinea aerophila using cryoEM.
We are grateful for funding by the @dfg.de in the framework of the @sfb1381.bsky.social
Moreover, we are thankful for the excellent cooperation with the CryoEM Facility at the @uni-freiburg.de

Our SFB 1381/SGBM student Claudia Juraske successfully defending her thesis- congratulations and all the best for the future!
Congrats to Claudia Juraske, who defended her PhD on August 8th under Prof. Wolfgang Schamel!

Within @sfb1381.bsky.social, her research focused on T-cell receptor assembly dynamics and their engineering for cancer immunotherapy.

Artificial intelligence holds great potential for research—but how can it be used most effectively?

To explore this question, our SFB organized a workshop lately, led by our PI Viviane Timmermann.
