Riding a bike makes me happy! Probably because it keeps me off social media. And cross country skiing is pretty cool too! Cycling advocate in YYC. My friends call me Jim. #yycbike
I sure did. 311 is still listing as open but I’m guessing it will be ignored until Thursday, when they can hit reset with the new snow. I’m honestly expecting it to be there all winter.

I enjoyed the snow blockade, westbound under Centre Street! 311 submitted!

After 14 months and over 8,000 km logged, I wholeheartedly agree! It’s certainly made my 65km round trip commute manageable along with the occasional camping trip.

Your comment reminded me of this Far Side 😂

Beautiful sunrise show on today’s #yycbike commute. That arch tells me it’s going to be a windy one going home this afternoon!

I feel your pain! (But I still had a blast riding home 😁)

And I saw the eagle hanging out at his usual breakfast bar location #yycbike

Today’s #yycbike commute kicked off “sizzlin’ bacon season”. Changed the front tire over to an Ice Spiker last night with the rear to follow in the next few days. (My no cursing, no levers, no blood streak is intact!) - sound on for the video

Busy day for #yycbike wildlife sightings. Counted on my ride this morning: 6 deer, 4 swans, 2 eagles and one coyote. Really enjoying these mild weather commutes but next weeks forecast signals that winter is coming…

First set of Ice Spikers mounted for the season with no cursing (at tires or Nexus hub), no levers and no blood! Win, win, win! Still 3 more bikes to transition in the coming days so will see if the luck continues. #yycbike

spICY in spots this morning! Wasn’t expecting the freezing drizzle right out of the door (not on wxradar). Down jacket was a bit leaky until a sheet of ice formed over it, then okay. Only one sketchy bridge deck but had advanced warning so was walking when the bike went down. #yycbike

My commute may be longer than I’d ideally like but I can’t complain about the views along the way. Saw my eagle again (no picture) and inadvertently chased a small rabbit the entire length of the tunnel south of the Bonnybrook plant (I did slow down for him). #yycbike

Splendid sunrise, as viewed from along the Bow River, this morning! Meanwhile beavers were busy just north of Carburn Park. Unfortunately for them, the tree fell on the wrong side of the fence 😂. Also saw an eagle but I was already late for work so didn’t stop for a picture. #yyc #yycbike

Long commute means my #yycbike day starts out in the dark these days but I’ve got lots of time to watch the dawn sky pit on a colourful show!

Day 2 of my new #yycbike commute. 2 separate deer sightings as I rolled along the river. I now officially have access to the bike room and have discovered I am not the only one! 😁

Got me beat! First 65km roundtrip without a charge. I guess I could have switched to turbo a bit earlier 😆

New job means new #yycbike commute! Twice the distance of my previous commute (33km) but far more scenic! Pick up the Bow River pathway system just west of downtown, then follow the river until I peel off at 130Ave. Great morning for it!

Bought these (or similar) at CDN Tire last winter. Lasted the entire winter on 2 sets of AA batteries. Kim’s set, however, packed it in at the end of season

Prime example illustrating problems with building out connected pathway infrastructure. New pathway ends agonizingly close to the pathway built along the Bow Tr connector to Stoney Tr. Fence line is the demarcation between two levels of bureaucracy. Wagers on it ever being completed? #yycbike

Enjoy! We made the trip to Banff a few weeks ago with 5 Bromptons. Plenty of room to spare 😁

Not absolving the driver of responsibility here but this location is an accident waiting to happen. When crossing Bow Trail at a signalized crosswalk, you immediately pass through an opening in a sound fence with maybe 18” of sidewalk before entering the adjacent street. Zero visibility for either.

Yes, you should! @peislandergirl.bsky.social and I really enjoyed taking ours to PEI this summer!

Reminder that the Bow Valley Parkway becomes “car free” for a “care free” ride starting this Thursday August 28. #yycbike
