A takto to dopadlo. Ukrajinská vdova a maminka dvou kluků dostal dárek, ve který nedoufala. Pomáhat lidem v nouzi je radost. Děkuji, Jirko.

We’re still an absolute skeleton crew of 14 people, competing with teams sometimes 100x as large as ours. To get to our humble team size was only possible through the less than 1% community members who donate to Mastodon, a handful larger donations, & EU grants, all of which we are forever […]

#grapheneos for #pixel10 is finally here! The installation process was straightforward, but the most impressive aspect is how it restores (almost) all applications, along with their data. This is done from a backup, so you can do it even if your previous […]

Nenapadá vás někdo, kdo by potřeboval počítač?

I had a cheeky comment prepared for today, saying that you shouldn't rely on Cloudflare if you can afford it, and that you don't truly self-host when you use it, but I could not post it because one of the services I don't self-host —my Mastodon instance— depends on #cloudflare, too. 😅

Hi! Today is my first official day as the Executive Director of Mastodon, replacing @gargon@mastodon.social as CEO. I joined the Mastodon team more than 5 years ago, mostly working for Mastodon in the evenings on top of a 120% day job. I was the driving force behind the incorporation of the […]

The new #pc arrived! \o/
Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on the configuration last week. I've made a couple of changes based on it such as getting a X870E motherboard and a faster disk.

I received $26 from #meta as part of the $725 million privacy settlement, which I immediately donated to #mastodon. Just imagine the difference it could make if even 1/1000 of the users involved did the same!

I played with GUI for #linux Desktop Migration Tool today. It is still rough around the edges, but it looks promising. Some operations such as selecting applications to reinstall can be done much more easily in GUI than in CLI.

This guy runs the Windows unit at Microsoft, and he's telling you that the company intends to infiltrate "AI" into every aspect of the operating system.

If you use Windows, this is an injection of a living, self-replicating virus into your digital existence.

Yes I use Linux.

httpget was my first insight and lesson into HTTP and since then I have kept […]

From a presentation of an AI tool:
"It can perform LDAP queries for you!"
"Can I trust the results?"
"Well, not really. It's like asking a human; you should always verify the results yourself to be 100% sure."

Okay, instead of running the query myself, I'll wait for the AI tool to run it and […]

Today, I finished my first longer trail run: It was 28.3 km with an elevation gain of 911 m. There were parts that were as steep as 40%. The average outdoor temperature was 7°C, it rained and there was looots of mud. It couldn't have gotten more pleasant than that. ❤️😅

I recently bought the TP-Link NE200, one of the few outdoor 5G modems on the market. As I couldn't find any unboxing videos, and the product descriptions didn't specify what was included, I decided to make my first unboxing and installation video. It's quite amateurish, but maybe someone will […]
