You're working under a slight handicap. You happen to be human.

You are wise, witty, and wonderful, but you spend too much time reading this sort of trash.

Speaking of oauth, I wish PDS supported openid connect.

PDS supremacy should not be compromised by the silly read-after-write problem

I have been running a bot posting fortunes every 20 minutes, from my serverless pds, to monitor its behavior. So far so good.

"Writing" was often paired with "reading" which was a skill used by a priestly caste to access written records. Unfortunately, this skill is now lost.

I did some work on my bookmarks importer app. I don’t know yet how to tackle bsky’s PDS rate limits (1666 record creates per hour per account). I don’t think having thousands of bookmarks is uncommon.

is it possible to have a <name>.bsky.social resolve to a selfhosted PDS?

What is the reason the jetstream is not recommended for “serious” AppViews? is it because of the lack of signatures? what if I trust the jetstream (and its upstream firehose)?

Finished @steveklabnik.com 's jj tutorial. So good. I thought git's reign was going to last for decades to come.. not anymore! 🤯

I've noticed Bluesky entering mainstream conversations more and more, most of the time characterized as some sort of leftist enclave. I'm not sure whether that kind of cultural framing helps or hinders its adoption (my intuition is that it could help)

I find the current recommendation for extending lexicons (using sidecar records) ... meh (weaker cohesion, consistency challenges...) #atproto

Hello @tijs.org. I'm writing a small app to import my old getpocket (RIP) bookmarks to my PDS (as community.lexicon.bookmarks.bookmark records). I see that kipclip defines its own tag record type www.val.town/x/tijs/kipcl... , how does that interact with the existing "bookmark" tags array field? 🤔

I understand that Ed Zitron is annoying, but before you criticize him, ask yourself: does an industry that has the financial backing of HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS needs your help to defend itself from a podcaster?

I never thought I would witness the United States being governed by a band of online trolls.

I’ve been thinking about how PDSs are relatively heavy artifacts in the AT Protocol ecosystem. They're typically mapped one-to-one to a user (or some anthropomorphized entity), which makes sense given the "Personal" in Personal Data Server.
