I’m an atproto maximalist with PDS-supremacist tendencies.

Those are good points. Still, I don't know... I'd be wary of semantically overloading the "follow" concept, which is very feed oriented ("content from A should flow to B")
January 12, 2026 at 12:28 AM
uhm.. it kind of make sense for a user to follow different people on different applications, doesn't it? I think the pattern that makes the most sense is for each application to have its own social graph but support something like "import your bluesky friends"

we will only need new jobs if we let the ultra-rich capture all the value. Real AGI would mean a post-scarcity world.

There are limits to how far these mechanisms can be compared. If the analogy is pushed to an extreme, it becomes impossible to criticize any technology at all (“it’s all just math, why would you hate math?”) Small differences in mechanisms can be crucial and at some point they become qualitative

sure. my point is that the “you don’t like NFTs yet you use atproto” is a bit of a stretch, imho.
January 10, 2026 at 2:44 PM
how do you transfer a DID? how do you sell it, within the protocol?
January 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM
private atproto data? why? do you have something to hide?
January 10, 2026 at 1:24 AM
without blockchain? that’s definetly not what the NFT bros were talking about when they were talking about NFTs

I had an idea for a story the other day about a guy who sees a car passing him driven by mannequins. How weird that would be!

And does that mean that, up to now, the owner has been paying $5000 out of pocket to keep it running? I wish I had that kind of money to spend on my pet projects.

Maduro was a dictator. But “brutal”? He doesn’t hold a candle to the kind of dictators the US typically backs

are you serious? “Not supporting Trump” is an extremely low bar. To the rest of the world, European leaders are merely reaffirming their status as U.S. vassals.
January 3, 2026 at 11:22 PM
I wonder what Greenwald, who shilled for Trump as a candidate (“anti-interventionist”, “anti-establishment”) has to say about all of this.

Time for my big year end blogpost about the Atmosphere.

From the personal computing perspective, the cloud has been a disaster — but we shouldn't run away from it.

We can solve a lot of problems by connecting our clouds, turning it into atmospheric computing.
Atmospheric Computing
Cloud computing has been extremely successful, but it lost the values that drove personal computing. We can solve this by evolving forward.

I was going to suggest using TAP_SIGNAL_COLLECTION instead of full network, but it only accepts a single collection

I finally found some time to continue with this. rn I'm just sending the identity and record events to a kafka topic so that I can replay it later when I find something interesting to do with them.
