NO NEED TO FEAR IT SEES NOTHING BEYOND THE GLASS an easy-to-read sign says in bold tall letters it's bolted onto the thing's podium which holds up its cage a small glass box for some their doubts are already assuaged for others it's the massive locks that thing will not be getting out says the tour guide against the glass its eyes wide you wonder oh then does it see us? read the sign that's under its box then why's it keep its eyes open? i sneak a picture of the bolded sign with tall letters hold the screen up to its gaze its eyes seem to flicker it sees—nothing beyond the glass through the cage we can all hear it scream it scratches into the glass can it hear? one guy asks and the tour guide shakes his head no thank you for asking take comfort instead knowing it can neither see nor hear in any way past the glass no need to fear! oh i see okay @serenitystripes.bsky.social

genuinely what is the point

they appear (as far as i can tell) on uploaded images, gifs, and videos, as well as on replies/pings of any kind that include u (including @/everyone), but not link embeds, including tenor gifs

guess it's just trying to shoehorn unnecessary social media functionality in
micless chat showing a few images with the stupid added buttons between them, as well as a message pinging me directly that also has them

hey mobile discord what the fuck is this
reaction, reply, and forward buttons that mobile discord now thrusts beneath every single message with an embedded image (or any message that is replying to you), seemingly excluding gifs and link embeds these are all things that are accessible by swiping or holding onto a message for a little bit, but they now interrupt the space between messages and there's no option to disable them as far as i can tell
