Rather beautifully, Professor Mahmood Mamdani's dedication in "Neither Settler Nor Native" is to his trail-blazing son, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social.

He quotes the revolutionary Chinese writer Lu Xun's famous concluding lines in "Hometown":

「其實地上本沒有路,走的人多了,也便成了路。」

“Old white dude gets young Black woman to do unpaid labour for him” is “innovation” now cool cool cool.
Senior white male AI researcher "designs" a computer program to simulate a young Black woman. That will answer student's questions and debate with students (all TA roles) but won't be a TA. Right.

Tell me you don't understand the social implications of this tech without etc etc

this sociology lecturer's account of how the "crisis" of social subjects (文科) in Chinese higher edu is changing the way of teaching evaluation is absolutely chilling. have you heard of AI monitoring "head-raise rate" - how often students will look up during a lecture

Stayed up all night, anxiously following the news. Yet, the motion to impeach President Yoon failed because the ruling party boycotted the vote. Unacceptable and outrageous. Yoon must be impeached immediately and the People Power Party must be dissolved. A long and difficult battle lies ahead.
