Is it a "premature optimisation" to add authorisation to your app before you know how your authorisation will be structured, or should you consider authorisation and add placeholders when writing new code and building new features from the start?

So it's not mandatory to specify a variable name to catch an exception in #PHP? 😮

Feel kind of dumb to find such tiny tips now 😅

There are no built-in PHP functions which start with the letter "Y".

And only one which starts with a "W".

I've always been a fan of the boy scout rule: "Always check code in cleaner than when you checked it out."

Simply try make code a little bit better than when you checked it out. Small efforts aggregate into big wins.

Why would smth. simple as this be so hard for some?

Learning a #programming language with AI support is completely different game. I wonder when and how schools and universities will adopt. From what I see, at the moment the institutions tend to simply ignore or ban it.

Playing with #rust is a constant battle: I want to store something to the memory, rust wants to get rid of it.

Friday afternoon, 2 days break from developing for money ... what do you think? Should I take a dive into #rust or try some #golang? Or maybe some lessons in #lisp?

No, I don't need a bloody copilot for this document, thank you.

Writing is, in no small part, a tool for thinking. If you outsource that element to a machine that cannot think, you shouldn't be surprised if, at the end of the process, neither you nor your reader are any the wiser.

LaTeX + Linux FTW!
After spending more than an hour on the phone with Microsoft Support, I have learned:

1. It is impossible to disable Copilot in OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint, or Windows itself.
2. It will not become possible to do so for another month AT THE EARLIEST.
(1/?)
Anyone know how to disable Copilot in OneNote? There's no tickybox for it in the "Options" page, I already turned off "online experiences" or whatever, and when I tried uninstalling the Copilot app, the only change seems to be that I no longer have an "uninstall" option on the Copilot app.

Web components are weird. You write in one "language" (React, Vue, etc.) and it magically translates into HTML and Javascript.
The thing is, for testing, we need to understand how this magic works.

JavaScript is the only language that I'm aware of that people feel they don't need to learn before they start using it.
