Last night, Donald Trump, the adjudicated rapist sexual abuser who bragged about grabbing women by the pussy, called a female reporter “piggy” for asking a question about the Epstein files.

Party of family values, amirite.

I'd sooner trust a stoned monkey with a bag of hand grenades than this lot with the economy.
Amazing story in The Times. Reform UK failed to pay VAT to HMRC on its sales (tickets, merchandise). About £400k in all.

Not tax avoidance. Not tax evasion. They just didn't realise when you sell stuff you have to charge VAT.

“The ECHR isn’t Brussels meddling. It’s the foundation that protects you from your own government.” 👏👏👏
Leaving the ECHR won’t “Take Back Control” – it will hand your rights to politicians
The myths are seductive, the reality is very different – without the ECHR your freedoms rest on whichever Home Secretary wakes up grumpy

Farage and Badenoch want to quit the ECHR. It would remove our protections. It would place the UK alongside Russia and Belarus as the only European countries outside the ECHR. It would be a huge victory for Putin in his war against human rights and international law.

It is what traitors would do.

During WW1 there was a rumour that aspirin caused the Spanish Flu. As I was writing about that last year I often shook my head in disbelief at the stupidity of our near ancestors. Seems a lot of people are still dumb enough to believe nonsense.

Authoritarians demand fear & obedience - laughter punctures both.

Charlie Kirk once stated some gun deaths ‘were worth it’ if it meant continued existence of the right to bear arms.

Meaning he has justified his own murder as opposed to support gun reform: the utter madness of America’s relationship with guns.

If, say, Robert Jenrick had done what Angela Rayner did, we all know that the consequences would have been zero. That's no longer a kind of spluttering twitter protestation, just a fact of how things are now, in fact its the *goal* that the Right has been working towards.

I could swallow the pill of Angela Rayner resigning, if the same scrutiny and media hysteria were applied to the right-wing corrupt tax-evading politicians of current and past gvnts. They were never going to let a working-class woman be deputy PM. Shame on them all.
September 5, 2025 at 12:45 PM
Think what you will of this government, but the relentless vitriol directed at Angela Rayner is appalling. The Guardian summing it up perfectly, albeit I’d add there’s a dose of misogyny in there too:

‘This is a class war, mediated through one person.’

Why are the tabloids so enraged about every aspect of Angela Rayner’s life? | Zoe Williams
Whether it’s her housing, clothes, the restaurants she goes to, or the fact she watches opera and drinks wine, she can apparently do nothing right, writes Guardian columnist Zoe Williams

Gary Lineker is a good man, a national treasure, a role model.

Being forced out of MOTD because he’s horrified by war criminals murdering kids (in a war the BBC refuses to cover without fear or favour) is enraging.

The BBC allows free speech, but only if you’re right wing.

Gary Lineker will be recalled for being on the right side of history long after the faceless right wing bureaucrats who spent years on end wrecking the BBC, obeying their spineless administrators, are forgotten.

The BBC is no longer a home for those with talent or principle.

If the BBC want to use the excuse of impartiality for making Gary Lineker leave, they should perhaps also consider the disproportionate amount of time they give to Reform and Farage. What a joke.
