“…it’s time to address the elephant in the room of British politics. It is one that everyone else can see across Europe; and opinion polls tell us the public is way ahead of Westminster. To paraphrase James Carville, it’s the Brexit, silly.”
Why 'it's the Brexit, stupid' should be the political slogan of our times
As Chancellor Rachel Reeves prepares the Budget, she’s missing an estimated £40 billion a year in tax revenues because the UK left the European Union

Nigel Farage says Reform would “reduce the size of the bloated state” by seizing Brexit opportunities to deregulate

@jreland.bsky.social points out in @the-independent.com that this creates a dilemma - the more the UK does things differently to the EU, the more work there is for British bureaucrats

Farage is asked about another two of his MEPs, who made the same pro-Russia statements that Nathan Gill has now pled guilty to being bribed to make.

"Opinions are opinions."

Farage's defence seems to be that they arrived at those views independently and it has nowt to do with him.

They then repeated his pro-Russia talking points in Parliament.

I'd sooner trust a stoned monkey with a bag of hand grenades than this lot with the economy.
Amazing story in The Times. Reform UK failed to pay VAT to HMRC on its sales (tickets, merchandise). About £400k in all.

Not tax avoidance. Not tax evasion. They just didn't realise when you sell stuff you have to charge VAT.
