I’m Laura, feral marker & pen artist, doing a new drawing every day for 2025. Here are my OCs Bela Lugosquid & Nosferawwwwtu! 😊💜
A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing where I did a sketch of the branch end I found, which is curved from the left side to the right, vertically, with pale green lichen on a grey-brown wood (I think it’s black walnut). It looks like a very spooky hand, so I used the same colours to draw a new original character (OC) behind it, named Nosferawwwwtu (with four Ws!). They are tall and pale green, with enormously long and pointy fingers, pointy ears, pointy fangs (only the top jaw, not the bottom), and big black hollows for eyes with tiny white points of light, as if the eyes were tiny and sunk deeply into the eye sockets. Nosferawwwwtu has their right arm bent up, and curved like the branch. The background is dark blue night, with a full moon (a blank circle with no colour on the paper) above Nos, and positioned so that the “fingers” of the branch are holding the moon. It should look spooky, but everything I draw ends up cute, so I drew a cute weird creature under the moon. “Nosferawwwwwtu”. You’re welcome! :) A marker, ink, paint pen and paper collage drawing of my OC, Bela Lugosquid, a common squid, pale pink-grey with red and grey spots, facing left slightly, asleep. They are smiling (yes, I know, that’s not where their mouths are), and are wearing a pair of fake fangs, a black cloak with a red lining, white bow tie and vest, white shirt, and a red ribbon with a spiny Black Sea urchin attached to the ribbon by holding onto a gold ring. Basically, dressed like Bella Lugosi’s famous outfit* in Dracula (1931). Their tentacles and arms are drifting gently, with an arm on the right touching the edge of the cloak. Dream bubbles coming from their head feature an image of Bella Lugosi as Dracula from the movie poster (image sourced from IMDb.com). Bela Lugosquid is non-binary. They are fascinated by vampire squid, but too shy to actually talk to any actual vampire squid (and afraid of negative reactions). They are a very happy squid. They have dreams of stardom. I don’t know about the sea urchin; they usually don’t go that deep. *Of course that outfit is famous! Everyone saw that movie in theaters, right? We’re all immortal, right? …right? Just me, then. “Whoah”: A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of my OC Bela Lugosquid (a pale peach with brown and grey spots squid) in an aquarium (there is a sign drawn at the top that says “AQUARIUM” and I am not good at lettering), with a tank on the right side, and the outside of the tank (non-tank? Aquarinot?) on the left. Bela Lugosquid is in the tank, staring with awe, and reaching out one tentacle to touch the glass. Bela is wearing their Dracula* costume, black cloak with red lining flowing out behind them. On the other side of the glass stands my OC Nosferawwwwtu, a green vampire-like creature/character with long scary fingers, sunken eyes, and pointed ears, dressed in their classic dark grey robe with ragged wide sleeves. The floor is green, the wall is teal blue, and an inked, but not coloured poster on the far left wall says “Innsmouth-born SQUIDS!”, and has a squid-like drawing with spiral curls for tentacles. Over the poster is a label that says “New! NIGHT HOURS!!”. In the right top background of the tank is a smiling great white shark, and just below them, squid tentacles and arms are disappearing off the page, like another squid has run off. *Based on Bela Lugosi’s costume in Dracula (1931), except instead of a medal, Bela Lugosquid is wearing a spiny Black Sea urchin. A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of my OCs, Nosferawwwwtu and Bela Lugosquid standing side by side, holding two signs that say: 1. “DENYING PUBERTY BLOCKERS TO TRANS KIDS…” and 2. “IS CHILD ABUSE!”. Nosferawwwwtu is standing in a shadowy room, next to Bela Lugosquid’s aquarium tank*, dressed in their signature ragged brown robe, holding sign 1. The sign is bordered in blue and pink on the sides. Their long spindly fingers are managing to hold this important sign just fine, thank you (as long as they use their teeth!), and they have an angry expression on their face. Bela Lugosquid is holding sign 2, also bordered with blue and pink on the sides. Not only does Bela look angry, so does the spiny Black Sea urchin hanging on their fancy red ribbon (and pointing -emphatically- at the sign). They have very strong feelings about this; there was a *BAM!* against the glass as they put the sign up. Bela Lugosquid is wearing a fancy bow tie in the trans flag colours instead of his usual white tie, because they do not give a stuff about dress codes made up by transphobic numpties. *Squids prefer to be in the open sea, not aquariums, but this is the only way Bela get to visit their friend, Nosferawwwwtu.
