as a bonus, here's the five giftable copies of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch I have in my Steam inventory. you can't even buy HL2DM on its own anymore, and you DEFINITELY can't buy gift copies of games just to store in your inventory indefinitely

I'm pleased to announce that the most cursed camera input of all (phone camera to USB C to HDMI to USB A to USB C) *is* recognized as a real, working camera by the Switch 2. it's not high enough resolution to be used, though I suspect that's due to my phone's weird aspect ratio.

there's a character named Raymond Chandler in The Stepford Wives, and I couldn't recall whether the real author would've been alive when it came out (1975), so I searched for it. it turns out that Google is so desperate to not create fake idioms now that it's lying in the opposite direction

yesterday was the 30th birthday of California condor 123, who I had the enormous privilege to meet in 2010. he was one of the first pair of condors to raise a chick in captivity after their near-extinction. I'm so grateful to all the people who have helped preserve these beautiful birds.

one of my favorite things in older movies is watching the ways that characters hold wired telephones; having an extremely long wire that stretches around a doorframe is pretty good, but my favorite thing is when a character just walks around cradling the base of the phone.
