They/them. Queer neurospicy activist & plant geek. I'm a fan of libraries & hyper-local activism, & I occasionally play with yarn.
Or see if there's a food pantry in your community that wants them. My neighborhood food pantry is thrilled to be able to offer additional fresh produce.

I take extra garden produce to the neighborhood food pantry. They are thrilled that summer increases what they can offer.

I can't eat tomatoes, so I use a mix of plums and zucchini (courgettes) to recreate the mouth feel of crushed tomatoes, and use vinegar, sugar, and herbs to balance the acid/flavor.

That's been on my to-read list for ages. I have a couple other books out from the library, but if you are reading it I will try to bump it up the list.

*snort laugh* I would be fascinated!
But my interests spill over into urban planning and infrastructure. I haven't yet done an AuDHD deep dive into the subject, but it's on the list. 🙂

Me: Werewolves? Wait, this isn't Gail Carriger!

I agree w/your yum! Shrimp, crab, lobster, and crayfish are all arthropods, aka bugs, so people are happy to eat bugs in certain contexts. Anyone being squeamish about consuming shellac because it's bug secretions is being inconsistent.

No. M&Ms have a sugar & corn syrup glaze, and are then tumbled & polished. That's why they are so shiny.

I'm working on adding medicinal herbs to the community orchard where I volunteer. Will have to figure out how to collect seed from some of them, but luckily a few are perennial.

Sadly H-Mart is not national. Looks like it's along the East Coast & West Coast, & in the greater Chicago area, w/a few additional locations. But the plains & Midwest are lacking. I'm lucky to have a bunch of small local Asian markets in my city, but no 99 Ranch or H-Mart.

And cardamom and nutmeg. Any spices that need a tropical environment to grow.

Be sure to read book 2.5 in Milan's Cyclone series when you are able, and I think there is a free short story from the universe available on her website?

And for those dubious about historical romance, I think her "Worth Saga" might be one of the most accessible places to start.

Courtney Milan's contemporary 'Cyclone' series is amazing. I reread it every so often to keep it fresh for when the next title in it comes out. In the meantime there are all her other books to reread!
