Almost 200 birds ringed in the past week at Wild Woodbury #rewilding site. Around half were Chiffchaff, with high numbers now moving through. Redstart, Firecrest, and a few Grasshopper Warbler still passing through amongst other highlights. @dorsetwildlife.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

Hit 4000 birds ringed at Carey this autumn today with a monster of a 20.0g Sedge Warbler! However, the stand out highlight of the morning was this stunning HOBBY!! Not something I ever thought I would be lucky enough to catch!

Autumn sessions @dorsetwildlife.bsky.social rewilding site, Wild Woodbury, have been excellent so far this Autumn. Quieter today, but 44 birds of 17 species gave a nice variety. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

1. This is a thread about why Food Waste is so often, and wrongly, identified as the major problem with the food system. Yes, it's an issue, but in the rich world, it's far smaller than many others. It’s massively over-emphasised, while other, far more important problems, are ignored and avoided. 🧵

What better way to spend #worldrewildingday than at the final day of @rewildingbritain.org.uk conference in Dorset. A great three days visiting @harbourbirds.bsky.social, @dorsetwildlife.bsky.social, and @nationaltrust.bsky.social, before a day discussing how we can accelerate rewilding in the UK.

An amazing record of a ringed Buzzard found just off Wild Woodbury #rewilding site, originally ringed just 6km away in Wareham Forest in 2000 - making this bird 25 years old. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

Over 800 birds ringed at Wild Woodbury #rewilding site so far this year, with some highlights below. Increases in both resident and migratory species, and a few rarer species picked up too, all show an encouraging increase in species abundance and diversity. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social
