Gosh, after a seven year absence, my friend @dananddanfilms.bsky.social is back!

I mean - i'm thrilled that Dan is back, but i've never much liked Dan to be honest.

I still play this one regularly (on the original hardware). It holds up as an exceptional game…

Today would have been my mother's 80th birthday, so I shall be raising a large whisky to her this evening... 🥃

Much missed, always loved ♥️

Really gutted to say that our resident albino squirrel was run over earlier, on the road just around the corner. Not sure how someone failed to spot him - he wasn't exactly inconspicuous 🤬

He'd been a regular in the garden for about 6 weeks; I saw him out there just this morning... 😢

EVIL HACKER DID IT

And the hacker was SO cunning, they used the same image he had just posted on Twitter, moments earlier.

And if you believe that, I have a concrete tree to sell you.

He's still around... and is burying hazelnuts, so I think he's planning on staying!

Picked up a used 2x extender on eBay - now I can go to 800mm; combined with some decent sunlight, and I can get a lot closer to him...

Can't believe that after more than 20 years with DSLRs I've only recently overcome my film-era attitude to ISO settings.

With film, over ISO 800 started getting too grainy. But now it's just another setting, and good results can be got in the 1000s and tens of 1000s...

He's back again tonight!

Can't get as close as I'd like - he's a bit nervous, and I'm having to crop in a long way even with a 400mm lens (second photo shows the original framing). Might need to invest in an extender...

@chrisgpackham.bsky.social What do you think of this beauty? Spotted him for the first time tonight in my Hampshire garden...
Ghost squirrel! New visitor to the garden this evening...

I hope he'll stick around so I can get some better pics.

If you ever feel like you don't know what you're doing, just keep in mind Spotify sent out an email today with an image that is 8736x11648 in dimensions and 19.6MB in filesize.

So. You're fine.

Just finished (audiobook of) The List of Suspicious Things by @jenniegauthor.bsky.social - blown away by it, esp. the reveal at the end taken from her own family…

Sounded like a last minute name change was edited into the recording. Would love to know the story behind that!

Only previously aware of the track "Fire Up The Shoesaw", from the (excellent) soundtrack to 1999's "Go".

But the whole (3-disc) album is pretty damn good!

I played there a couple of years ago, and it was a novel experience to be sledged by the commentator (@norcrosscricket.bsky.social again) while batting.

Also, got bounced by Matthew Hoggard off two paces after I hit the previous ball for 4…
A great day out at Wormsley, for the Lord's Taverners charity match between @thefinalword.bsky.social and @zeroduckspod.bsky.social . David Gower umpiring, and an increasingly pissed @norcrosscricket.bsky.social commentating.
