Tonight there is a supermoon!

This happens when the moon is at its perigee or closest to us in its egg-shaped orbit around the Earth. During a supermoon, it looks bigger and brighter than normal.

If you usually grow hair on your back and howl at the full moon, tonight should be a biggie for you!

I was given a personal tour of the Opéra Garnier in Paris yesterday, where 5000 people are employed. It seats 1500, but only 800 get a good view of the stage, which stretches back 50m. The fly loft is 40m high. 3 operas play in rotation, as singers cannot perform on consecutive evenings.

Fatma Hassona never left Gaza. She documented life under constant bombing by Israel. Her pictures show people, like herself, trying to survive in horrific conditions, exhibiting both her talent and her humanity.

I went to see this yesterday. It remains one of the most difficult and haunting films I've seen in a cinema.

Sepideh Farsi's film consists mostly in a series of broken conversations filmed off her phone with a young photojournalist living in Gaza.

A moving testament to Fatma Hassona's humanity.

Leaf at my feet

As the morning sun rises in the forest, bands of sunlight are projected on the ground. I spent the morning looking for things in these bands.

Photographers: Adobe is hiking its subscription for Lightroom by 50% next month. I can lock in my current plan by prepaying for a year at the current rate, or I can cancel and switch.

Does anyone use a non-subscription alternative to Lightroom that offers a similar workflow?

When I saw thick mist this morning, I grabbed my camera and ran for the door. I staked out this pylon for about an hour. The sun was trying to shine through the mist, which produced this unusual glow!
