We need to get the crosswalk in before we can turn on the RRFBs. We hope to do street markings early next week, but it's weather dependent.

Our rationale is that pedestrians expecting the RRFB to alert drivers may be confused since the signals are not yet activated. We bag all signals until they are activated.

I agree that this isn't ideal. We're waiting for crews to complete work (both signal activation and street markings). The black bags are to prevent confusion. We don't want people to expect the RRFBs to work when they haven't been activated.

This project made safety improvements along 15th Ave W/NW, including upgraded sidewalks and crosswalks, new street trees and other plantings, and over a mile of freshly paved asphalt on this important regional connection for freight, transit, and commuters.
