Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

We had an update at work last night.

I got to work at 8:35.
Wasn't able to load the page to clock in until 8:51.
It is now 9:22 and I still haven't been able to open up the homepage.

It's cool that Papio LaVista has 12 letters and all, but is this really a good choice?

When Team USA did a bio for the women's curling team one year and said one of them liked to drive fast, I flashed back to the time she gave me a ride to the rink to catch the bus for an away game and we almost got T-boned by my bf on his way to work because she was going so fast.
Who was in your high school graduating class, +/- two years, that would be of interest?

For example, I took a basketball class and graduated w/all-time 8th man Jud Buechler (look it up), and may have followed Stephanie Seymour (not sure if she still WENT to school after I moved there).

I spent so much time ringing the cowbell for Team Casper this weekend that I actually gave myself a sore.

Worth it.

Dang it! I forgot to get a picture of the time clock. They were down to 1:28 by the time Plys was throwing his 2nd.
He's literally running out of time.

Loving the way Team Casper communicates with each other.

Bonus: my seats are in front of some locals who have never really curled and influenced me to hit up The Nutty Bavarian stand on the concourse.

Absolutely no regrets.
What I want (Casper) is different than what I think will happen.

Then again, I picked my seats for tonight without thinking. I'm sitting where I was (105) when they won Friday, although I liked my seats last night better (102).

It's one of those mornings where it's cold in the shade, hot in the sun, and too windy to take a 2 foot inflatable duck to the top of an observation tower.

I'm rewatching the Leverage commentaries, and I've lost count of how many times they said a variant of "the version we ripped from the headline is worse."
TV conspiracies: we’ve hacked their computers but they’ve perfectly cleaned up the evidence!

Turns out the ambient curling noise masked some neighborhood fireworks well enough that the dogs weren't bothered. (Until we muted to make sure that's what we were hearing.)

So that's information to have.

My poor roommate is stuck listening to ME provide commentary on a game.
Love the #Curling on Peacock #Olympic channel, too bad the broadcast audio is shit.

It seems like the more attention I pay to this curling game, the worse Team Casper does.

Too bad I have a day job.
But is there a song? That is an annoying ear worm? Cuz, it sounds like it needs a song performed by an earnest man with a guitar.

I remember talking to a woman who was surprised that a bank would not issue a 2nd mortgage to her 90 y/o mother.

"I don't get it! She has good credit."
INGRAHAM: Is a 50 year mortgage really a good idea?

TRUMP: It's not even a big deal. You go from 40 to 50 years. All it means is you pay less per month

"It wasn't 40 million people starving that made them cave. They were willing to put up with that. But the threat of holiday traveling being disrupted seems to be the thing to push them to give in."

Well said, fellow American.
I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:
