Happy Thanksgiving to all! This year I am once again thankful for the real hero of the holiday.

Of course I am speaking of the inventor of the "Jump to Recipe" button.

This feels like the physics version of "What color notebook do you use for each subject"

Also:
Position is black
Velocity is blue
Acceleration is red
Force is green
Fields are orange
For me:

Position = blue
Velocity = green (as in GO!)
Acceleration and force = red (because they are related by N2L)
Electric fields = orange
Magnetic fields = cyan

Me, on a Friday afternoon with my class: Ok, let's get started...

My students, who have collectively decided that they want to see if they can get me off topic:

Colliding buggies is one of my favorite interactions because of the reactions of the students when they see that all of their analysis and hard work pays off with (fairly) precise and accurate predictions!

"Generative AI doesn't have a coherent understanding of the world"

In a just world, this sentence would be slapped across every single LLM-based app by law, like Cigarettes Cause Cancer.

Bluesky really needs a poll function. Anyway, until then feel free to argue in the comments.

Naming Conventions: CamelCase, underscores or dashes?

I'll be honest in that statistics is one of my weaker subjects. Like, I can do box-and-whisker plots and I can find the mean, median, and mode of a data set. But linear regression? That's where I draw the line.

Having my Day 1 discussion with my students about the importance of Intentional Language in our class this year highlighted in my mind just how much I hate acronyms in Eduspeak.

Don't get me started on backronyms.

Scientist of Bluesky*! The world needs more reminders that we're living, breathing human beings. Quote skeet this with a picture of you doing not-science. 🧪

I sat down and made a list for every hat I wear at school for the upcoming year.

I have 7 lists. Seven.

I'm afraid I've reached critical mass. I'm even more afraid my admin doesn't agree and has another hat for me.

I wish there were an easy way to take the best program from each platform (namely Google Calendar/Gmail and Microsoft OneNote) and integrate them in a simple way instead of subpar offerings or impossibly kludgy workarounds.

This shouldn't be that difficult.

To all of the teachers who also wear other hats at school, how do you keep all your hats organized without losing your mind? I need help!

Any of the #iTeachPhysics people interested in a course this fall to help them with implementation of Modeling Instruction, check out this course led by Jess Dykes. It looks great!

I know #EDUsky isn’t big enough to make up the gap, but maybe members can help spread the word.

The collapse of twitter has made it much harder to publicize Skype a Scientist.

Very open to any ideas on how to get the word out to teachers about our program.

It has to be either free or very low-cost (twitter collapsing has also made fundraising harder lolololol).

Just finished reading some Discworld and have a strong urge to replace clockwise and counterclockwise with Turnwise and Widdershins in my circular motion lessons.
