A study of how the notion of "accountability" is rearticulated in far-right discourses – recentred around a monstrous image of "the left" that ramps up hand-me-down neoliberal discourses

Wait a minute. The grandson of the UK’s most notorious fascist works for Palantir? That’s a bit too on the nose.
I am not sure a black shirt was the best outfit choice here for Louis Mosley of Palantir (and grandson of Oswald).

Conceptual flipsiding and reversal of liberal-democratic notions: discursive-political strategies in/and the normalisation of illiberal public imagination

JFC this is dark. For those who don't know, this is the anthem of choice of a number of far right orgs -- especially beloved by those seeking to "take back" the nation by force, so that it can be a white racial stronghold. Real 14 words stuff from the Groypers running the social media accounts.

Right now I'm using XTwitter to keep an eye on events in Aleppo and Tehran in ways that are impossible on Bluesky. The Euro and US-centrism of this platform needs to be corrected for it to be of wider use for a lot of researchers and analysts.

The vice signalling is like a public pedagogy machine, which must be resisted with a ethico-political sensibility that isn't afraid to bring virtue to the staging of political conflict
"...the more one relies on vice signaling as a style of action and communication, the less relevant and powerful the in-group’s moral compass is as a practical constraint on anyone’s behavior."

Empire of Vice

I know we're in the midst of a catastrophe-loop, designed to desensitize us to the disaster and violence of the Trump regime. But it's still noteworthy that the official messaging of a Cabinet-level department is straightforwardly bullhorning QAnon slogans.

think of the banality of fascistic desires that present themselves as some kind of emancipation from a "left authoritarianism". I have a piece looking at how "reactionary watchdogs" are reconstituting the meaning of "accountability", based on an analysis of two conversations between Rufo & Peterson

I think this is exactly right - everything is hiding in plain sight. In some ways, Trump's press conference response to the Maduro kidnapping forgoes the need for explanatory analysis, given how nakedly he connects the dots between the authoritarian ambitions at home and abroad
Far-right leaders surprisingly often mean what they say. The rest of us, instead of believing them, surprisingly often look for “what they really mean” or call it theater. But it’s usually wiser to take them at their word. If Trump says he wants Greenland, he’ll probably try to get Greenland.
