Amateur game/VN developer and translator and sometimes musician, who tends to write poems in my games
I wrote "Load menu" in English, but "Menu for loading saved games" in Danish. Then figured that in English I could use "Load savegame menu". I wonder how people who only write in one language manage to come up with good UIs 🤔

Playing with UI in Godot, to use it for my poem VNs. The text in the screenshot is just a test, and not quite accurate: the textbox stays the same but its border changes between characters. I did work on the textbox today, but the border change is one I made before and just hadn't shown here.

In comedy VNs, I try to make it odd in a funny way, and also try to include some worldbuilding but not too much. I also introduce one or a few characters at the start, but not too many, since I don't want to overwhelm players with info dumping.
This week's discussion question: How do you create memorable opening sequences?

(I have seen odd translations, yup,
but this short story is made up.)
I searched through a store
for things I could need,
and on them I saw
tags written in more
languages than I could read.
Two letters did say
which languages I could see:
English was GB,
Danish was DK,
French was CH

🇬🇧 To write in three languages, that is neat,
but it's quite hard to fit them in one skeet.
🇪🇸 Escribir en tres lenguas me gusta,
concentrarlos aquí me me asusta.
🇩🇰 At skrive på tre sprog virker smart,
med begrænset plads i alt er ik' så rart.

🇬🇧 Making things rhyme
in more languages than one
takes a lot of time
but it can be done.
🇪🇸 Hacer que algo
rime en dos idiomas
cuesta trabajo
pero hay quien lo logra.

Next time I make something for a game jam, I think I'll let players choose between a light and a dark theme, or perhaps add more themes than that if I have the time (I've recoloured art in-engine for other reasons before, and it's not particularly hard if the art is designed with it in mind).

I wonder which aspect ratios images should have here 🤔 Well, clicking "edit" gave me 4:3, 3:4 and square, so in the future I might want to use one of those.
