People say “got off” or “got off with it” like the acquittal doesn’t mean completely innocent of all charges.

There was a similar case in the UK where someone had images being served from their home computer which had been put there by malware. They were acquitted but the long term damage it does to completely innocent people is horrific. And the amount of people who still believe no smoke without fire.

*Don’t charge with a 13A socket unless it is marked BS1363-2/EV on the backplate and labelled as suitable for EV charging. It should also be on an RCD protected circuit with a suitable type of RCD.

It seems like there’s something on the way to tax EV users for “fuel”. I’m torn on this - the zero VED is for kick-starting the market, it seems to have worked. Practical taxation for fuel seems unworkable when you’re charging at home especially with a 13A socket*. Will we see mileage charging?

I knew in the 90s way before I started my own pension that the male/female pension ages were being equalised.

It’s tone fucking deaf for people who had so much from the state to demand more when their grandkids generation will never see a fraction, but will still pay for the waspi’s “compensation”

Oh, I totally get that. When I used to VJ I was more or less similar. Now I work in a job where I can meet with clients in multiple different time zones, which keeps me sane.

Also - this only goes for people actually trained to do this kind of arrest, standard in the UK afaik, not necessarily elsewhere.
November 11, 2025 at 11:34 AM
It depends what “tackled to the ground” actually means. If Police are arresting someone who is or is likely to physically resist they are put on the ground. This has better, safer outcomes for everyone, but can look horrific from the outside. Six officers sounds more like they lowered to the ground.

A very quick glance at your posting history suggests this isn’t entirely true, is it?

You clearly listen to R4, your references r2, you’ve posted links to BBC entertainment output and link to their web site.

I’ve seen loads of comments similar to this recently that seem to be just demanding that I reply with “I bet you’re fun at parties.”

And hashtag boobs, not GIFs

I was slightly disappointed I couldn’t reply with the “Beavis saying boooooobs” gif. But you can’t have everything.

Well, that’s cheered me up. :)

While I respect your top level procrastination here, I have in recent weeks finished a presentation after I’d started presenting it - and nobody noticed…

Yeah expressions along the lines of “let’s not give them a free pass because they’re part of X minority and not a cis/het/white boy.” crops up with tedious regularity before they give the subject a pass for whatever they’ve done.

I mean, they voted Kim Philby a genius last week, so unless she cause the deaths of thousands of people, she’ll be fine…

IIRC Mustards attack fast growing tissues and were used as the first chemotherapy drugs. Which makes them exceedingly unpleasant as a weapon but in the right hands life saving/prolonging.
