In the alternate reality where Meat Loaf didn't pass on "Total Eclipse of the Heart" poverty and hatred are ended and humanity lives an idyllic dream of fellowship.

He's introduced at the top as a "philosopher-peer" which is utterly hilarious in the context of that quote about the word "progressive." Frege and Wittgenstein would have been proud.

"The arguments I am making sound obscene in the face of the atrocity I'm denying" is tantalizingly close to self-awareness.

Ladies and gentlemen, we got him.

He blocked me for writing about the "expert testimony" Pinker gave Epstein's legal defense, but I didn't mention his name. Which means his assistants were told to read ALL Epstein/Dersh-related tweets looking for references to him. Feels like overkill unless you're worried about something specific

No thank you.

There need to be more internal recriminations.

However many internal recriminations there have been, and I honestly don't believe there have been many, they have been demonstrably insufficient.

Jackson's the only Justice who I don't see as hopelessly compromised, so when I saw the order was signed by her I felt reassured, but that makes me wonder: what does she know that we don't know? I've been reading her dissents, every "existential threat to the rule of law," and she's always right.

Black Hole is excellent, one of the best indie comics of its era, but all you need to know about it is that its core armature reimagines adolescence as a time of mutation, paranoia, and social ostracism, a vibe that I think we both saw NAILED in a recent movie.

From July until a week ago, Jeffries' official position was that he was not endorsing Mamdani due to suspicions of antisemitism, echoing baseless racist right-wing talking points.

Also if withholding your endorsement until the last possible moment is a good strategy, why does no one else do it?

I'm sure Gilliam was always a shit but I loved that movie for 20 years before finding out, and the whole movie's full of prescient metaphor.

The basic plot device of a refunding a wife the fee her innocent husband was charged for his own torture and murder keeps being on the nose here in the US.

Long time fan, first time genuinely disturbed by the implications.
