In @texasobserver.org, I point to the pervasive theme in the Bible "that we are to care for the stranger in our midst. For Christians, that’s something that’s commanded of us." Important to keep in mind given the Trump admin now allows ICE raids in churches www.texasobserver.org/ice-churches...

“They’re de facto endorsing government interference with the church—the very government interference with the church that they've complained about in the past.”

Those on the right saying those on the left are unfairly equating Nazi Germany with what’s going on today… my teenagers see it and it’s not from parental inferences. They read. They know their history. They can see it for themselves! Go GenZ!

Well that was an entertaining way to start the day! Plastic clips holding up the shelves in your cheapy kitchen cabinets? Might want to replace them… especially if holding multiple bottles of Asian condiments. Clip broke & bottles started tumbling down. All I was trying to do is get my coffee!

Those of us in the nonprofit sector have had a roller coaster of a week this week. I serve not one but two nonprofits in two different areas of business. I am the assistant executive Director of a nonprofit that deals primarily with children and food insecurity. 1/4

What a shallow, shriveled gospel we claim to hold if it doesn't include the things Bishop Mariann Budde said in her sermon. "Because God has extended hospitality and mercy to us, that requires us to extend hospitality and mercy to others."

I’m having a hard time staying hopeful, and that isn’t like me.

I keep thinking, is this really what people wanted? Is this really what the people who go to church in my hometown wanted?

If it is, then God help us all.

Just a reminder that there are real human beings, with families, who are having their financial and professional lives turned upside down tonight by the richest man in the world, who has a string of his own families he’s abandoned, and who was not elected to anything.

Ugh. Wearing a big cross while demonizing immigrants & attacking Christians who minister to immigrants & refugees. Performative Christianity is often divorced from actual teachings of Jesus.

This! I’m now completely stressed about what will happen to my work study which helps pay the bills while I’m in school and about my Pell Grant that allows me to further my education. This is my future and what was a clear path is now in jeopardy
I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.

“Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion
The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.
